2005-2006 Overview

The good relationship with ACPOS was maintained during this year. The Director sat on the ACPOS National Campaigns Working Group, and the Chair of that group represented ACPOS on the RSS Executive Committee. This relationship, supported by local Road Safety Units and with the added value of the Scottish Executive’s PR and advertising agencies, has enhanced campaigns by making use of national paid-for publicity, and other media platforms.

In this year, RSS supported ACPOS campaigns, including: the summer and festive safety campaigns; the “R U 2 Close?” campaign and winter safety campaigns. PR activity utilised the advantage of a joined-up approach with ACPOS to add additional authority to “Don’t risk it” messages, particularly on the issue of drinking and driving.
