Road Safety Scotland

2003-2004 Overview

Summer Safety

In 2003 RSS was unable to support the ACPOS National No Speeding Day on 1st April 2003 nor the summer safety campaign because of the Scottish Parliament elections in May. Official advertising is not allowed in the period before elections.

Festive Safety

In support of the ACPOS Festive Safety Campaign, the 'Who’s Watching’ radio advert was aired for a 3 week period and a supporting washroom poster was displayed in 656 licensed premises. The poster was also displayed in washrooms at major football clubs in Scotland. Additional activity by way of ‘talk ups’ by disc jockeys on radio stations owned by Scottish Radio Holdings and one minute slots on the Scottish Media Group’s Talking Scotland series were secured. A promotion with Beat 106 was also arranged and this was specifically aimed at the young driver.

Motorcycle Safety

RSS continued to provide publicity support in the form of leaflets and posters for the Bikesafe initiative. A stand at the Scottish Motorcycle Show in March 2004 was funded by RSS.
