Aims & Objectives

The main aims of the SRSC are:

1. To raise the public awareness of road safety issues in Scotland.
2. To research, analyse and monitor the reasons for road accidents in Scotland.
3. To lower the chance of accidents by addressing key road safety problems.
4. To evaluate the campaigns activities to ensure the efficient and effective use of resources.

The main objectives of the SRSC are:

1. To provide a Scottish Forum where users can exchange ideas about road safety in Scotland.
2. To communicate with the Department of Environment, Transport and the Regions (DETR) in support of road safety projects and publicity campaigns in Scotland.
3. To work with ACPOS (Association of Chief Police Officers Scotland) in the co-ordination and publicity of Scottish road safety education.
4. To develop, promote, and disseminate information on good practice in road safety education, training and publicity throughout Scotland.
5. To support and compliment UK national education and training measures that are relevant to Scottish road safety issues.
6. To report to the Scottish Executive once a year.
